Description

The FW SERIES gas fired furnaces are designed for forging (although they can be used for general purpose applications such as heat treating). They reach 2400F (1315C). They have the unique ability to be used as either slot type forge furnaces or box type furnaces because of the door design. Designed for heavy duty use, they feature “state of the art” high velocity high turn down ratio burners with proportional control.

UNIQUE DUAL PURPOSE VERTICAL DOOR
The vertical door is designed so that the first 6 inches of travel moves against the door seal. This provides an adjustable slot up to 6 inches. After that the door pulls away from the seal and travels to the full up position. The door is counterbalanced and manually operated with a hand crank located on the right side.
DIGITAL PID CONTROL AND HIGH LIMIT SYSTEM
The standard control is a Honeywell UDC 2500 digital PID 3 mode tuning control. All fuses, contactors, and controls are located in a NEMA 1 panel. The thermocouples are Type R. The control voltage is transformed to 120 volts. A NEMA 13 Lighted On/Off switch and NEMA 13 door power cut off switch are included. A Honeywell UDC 1200 digital high limit back up control with manual reset, back up contactors and separate thermocouple is standard. Customer must connect fused power supply to single point on panel.
HIGH TEMPERATURE UNIFORMITY
The furnace is uniform to within +/ 25F (+/-12C) above 1200F (650C) within the working dimensions.
TESTING AND INSTRUCTIONS
The furnace and combustion system are fully tested at the factory. A complete instruction manual includes easy start up instructions, theory of operation, general dimension drawing, assembly drawings, maintenance instructions, parts list, and a detailed trouble shooting guide. A ladder logic diagram, panel layout and combustion flow schematic is prepared on CAD.
MEETS NEC, OSHA AND FM CODES
The wiring of the furnace meets the National Electrical Code. The combustion system meets FM standards. IRI standards can be quoted as an option. Furnace meets all OSHA codes in effect at manufacture. Furnace drawings can be submitted to FM or IRI for approval.
WARRANTY
The furnace is warranted for one year except for elements and thermocouples which are warranted for six months. See warranty sheet Q12W.
EFFICIENT CERAMIC FIBER INSULATION AND STRONG CASTABLE REFRACTORY BOTTOM
The sides, back, door and top surfaces are insulated with 2300F ceramic fiber modules, 6” thick, 10 LB density. The bottom is insulated with 6” of lightweight, strong and highly insulating 2200F castable. Loads can be directly placed on this strong bottom. Optional castable piers, and ceramic, silicon carbide, serpentine or flat alloy hearth plates are available. No asbestos is used.
ECLIPSE COMBUSTION AIR BLOWER SYSTEM
Combustion air is provided by a centrifugal combustion blower. A pressure gauge and air pressure switch monitor performance. Each burner has separate orifice plates and butterfly valves for precise balancing of air flow. The control of firing rate is done with a motorized butterfly valve which controls the amount of combustion air relative to a 4-20mA signal from the temperature control.
HEAVY DUTY CASE WITH INTEGRATED STAND
The furnace case is constructed of 10 gauge steel with external bracing angles welded to the entire case and base assembly. Leveling bolts, anchoring holes and lifting rings are included. The main seams are continuously welded for an attractive appearance. The entire case is primed inside and out with a high temperature (800F) silicone based paint. The final coat is a heat resistant blue enamel. Custom colors are available. Sealed cases for controlled atmosphere use are optional.
